Flintlocks & Fireballs
- The Arakesh background replaces Humans.
The fertile river-valley of Arakesh was the cradle of civilisation, and the city of the same name, with its soaring ziggurats, great gardens, and epic history-halls, is the last remaining monument to mankind’s rise from the Stone Age. As much as Arakesh exports its crops, it exports its culture more: Arakeshi is the language of art, of creativity, and of poetry.
Arakesh is not just the cradle of humanity. It’s also the cradle of the rebellion. The city, the valley, and the surrounding land — desert to the north, arid marsh and eventually jungle to the south — is now firmly in the hands of the rebels, determined to fight tooth and claw to prevent the Church of the Incarnate from scouring the halls of history blank. The majority of the rebel forces, whether they’re guerilla fighters holding off the Imperial advance or saboteurs at the heart of the Empire, are some flavour of Arakeshi.
