The party arrive at the Praxian border to find that Imperial Legions loyal to Dourmoor have spotted the lack of beacon and arrived to reenforce the border. Though initially suspicious, they seem to recognise the party and allow them through. It turns out that their commander is a Rebel infiltrator, placed in a position of power by the rebels ‘managing’ Volpe’s affairs these days.
They reunite with Zoe, who has been working on the two-way communication mirrors while they were in Praxia, defended by a Mistwalker Rose Knight called Nykevallen. A rebel communication network now exists, steganographically piggybacked off the Empire’s comms. As they’re talking, several messages come through the comms network simeltaneously.
The first is a message to all rebel agents, from Ibrahim bin Zahn himself. The Empire are preparing for a final push on Arakesh; this is it. He orders all active agents back to Arakesh to run interference on Imperial operations. He also issues a warning: Rebecca Byrne has gone rogue; if she or anyone claiming to work for her contacts you, report them straight away.
The second is a private message from Vito. Discontent in Riverport is reaching a peak; it’s ready to topple. When it does, he wants to make sure he has lieutenants he can trust — that means you.
The third is another private message, this one from Armad bin Zahn. Elfholm facility have constructed an enlarged magicopter, one the size of a battleship. He needs help bringing it down — if it reaches the Arakesh front lines, it could decimate the city.
Next is from Gasparo Anglioni: he warns them that the Ramaslu IBIS and FWC work camps are zombie farms, producing undead soldiers en masse — he needs help taking them down, or Ramaslu is doomed.
Next — they’re coming in thick and fast — Lord Volpe is sending a distress call to all the rebellion. Dwarves from Netherfael have arrived, and cut a swathe through his defences. He can’t hold on much — and at that point, the door to his office is kicked down by a furious Thorni Snevisson. With the comms mirror still broadcasting, Volpe pleads for his life, while Thorni reads a list of charges (including his involvement in the Blue Pearl, which Volpe doesn’t think to deny). Volpe places himself at Thorni’s mercy, knowing that the Rose Knight Virtues would prohibit Thorni from killing him; Thorni states that he doesn’t care, and kills him anyway.
And finally, a message from Rebecca Gray. She promises that she has a good reason for everything she’s done, that there is more at stake here than the rebels fighting the Empire, and that if BDMS meet with her in Seflheim she will explain everything.
The party take some time deciding what to do. In the end, they come to a decision. They will get to Elfholm, steal the airship, and then fly to Riverport and help with the rebellion there on the way to Arakesh.
